QuestionCan I recover the admin password for a standalone access point?
Customer EnvironmentStandalone AP
Root CauseReconfigured AP admin passwords are not saved/recorded in any way that can be recovered.
- User has lost or forgotten the login credentials for managing the access point (AP)
- Default login is not working
- Hard-reset of the access point is required.
- At that point, default credentials will work.
If the administrator login credentials are not modified, then we can login to an Access Point with its default login credentials.
Once these login credentials are customized and if in some way login credentials are lost, then the only way to re-gain access to a standalone Access Points' web user interface or Command line interface, is by performing a hard reset(factory default) on it and login with above default credentials.
Hard-reset for access points may be different. Typically press the recessed Hard Reset button for 10-12 seconds before release.
Outdoor access point ZF-7762 has a different reset procedure.I have attached it to the article.
