Error 266 with Network Policy Server (NPS)

Summary

Customer came with a Query, When the client is trying to authenticate with the NPS server it troughs the error 266.

Question

Getting error 266 on my Network Policy Server (NPS)

Workaround

Error 266
NPS received a message that was either unexpected or incorrectly formatted. NPS discarded the message for this reason.

Resolution

"266 NPS received a message that was either unexpected or incorrectly formatted. NPS discarded the message for this reason."

The error 266 will occur if there are many unused root certificates in the server.

Trouble Shooting Steps:

Delete the unused Root certificates from the server.It worked after deleting all the unused certificates on the server.
