Virtual Machines are getting IP address but can't access the network
Summary
Virtual machine not able to access the network when the interface is set to bridge modeQuestion
Why does the virtual machine cannot pass any traffic on a bridge mode?Customer Environment
Virtual machine was running on top of Windows 7 laptop. The network interface of the VM was set to bridge mode. It was getting its' own IP address but cannot access the networkRoot Cause
As expected behavior, even though the vm has its' own mac-address, the virtual client will still use the physical client's mac-address in passing traffic. When the force dhcp is disabled, AP only checks its' cache for the client's mac-address but when force dhcp is enabled, it checks both mac-address as well as the IP of the virtual client and will find out that they are mismatch so the packet will be dropped.Troubleshooting Steps
Reproduced the issue and found out that when "force DHCP" is enabled, the virtual client cannot pass any traffic.Resolution
Disabled the "force DHCP" on the WLAN.Article Number:
