APs disconnected from ZD after upgrade failure
Summary
Attempted an upgrade of a ZD1100 from 9.7.1 to 9.8.2 and the upgrade failed. After the attempt the ZD responded but all APs were disconnected.Question
Why are APs disconnected from ZD1100 after upgrade failure?Customer Environment
ZD1100 running 9.7.1.0.32, trying to upgrade to 9.8.2.0.15. All 7982 APs. Failed to upgrade to 9.8.2.0.15 and after the upgrade failure the ZD reverted back to 9.7.1.0.32.Root Cause
SW corruption.Troubleshooting Steps
Customer had attempted to upgrade ZD from 9.7.1.0.32 to 9.8.2.0.15, and had unsatisfactory results on the following steps:1. had factory defaulted the ZD and reloaded the backup file, no success
2. APs were pingable from the ZD, the default gateway were reachable from everywhere.
3. did a set director on one AP and rebooted.
Workaround
N.A.Resolution
The messages at the ZD from the APs were the following for all of the APs:[ZF-7982] AP not supported; connection refused.
When we reloaded SW version 9.7.1.0.32, the ZD was able to load the SW and all of the APs reconnected.
If the message "AP not supported; connection refused" appears after an upgrade, reload SW version prior to the upgrade. Assuming the APs were connected prior to the upgrade.
