Modify Network Type of a Wi-Fi Network in Ruckus One or Ruckus Cloud

An existing Wi-Fi Network or WLAN is configured, and the administrator wants to change its network type or authentication method.
Root Cause
Administrators may need to modify the authentication method or network type of an existing WLAN, which is not supported in Ruckus One.Workaround
Create a new Wi-Fi Network with the desired configuration and:
- Use the same SSID if needed.
- Delete or disable the existing network from broadcasting in the preferred venue.
Resolution
- Ruckus One uses a template-based progressive configuration approach.
- The Network Type option is available only during the creation of a new Wi-Fi Network.
- Modification of the network type for an existing WLAN is not supported.
Available Network Types

Passphrase (PSK/SAE)
Users enter a predefined passphrase to connect. -
Dynamic Pre-Shared Key (DPSK)
Each device gets a unique passphrase for connection. -
Enterprise AAA (802.1X)
Uses 802.1X and WPA2 security protocols with an authentication server. -
Hotspot 2.0 Access
Provides seamless Wi-Fi with enhanced security and roaming capabilities. -
Captive Portal
Users authenticate through a captive portal using various methods. -
Open Network
No authentication required (not recommended for security reasons).
Edit Network Scope
The Wi-Fi Network Edit page allows changes to:
- Network name and description
- Network type-related settings (within the same type)
- Advanced network settings
- Venue where the network is advertised
