ICX 7150 stack of more than 4 members on R1
Summary
Ruckus One (R1) now supports managing up to an 8-member stack for ICX 7150 switches. This enhancement addresses the previous limitation of 4-member stacks in earlier R1 versions, despite firmware support for higher stack sizes.Question
What is the current stack limit for ICX 7150 in Ruckus One?
Customer Environment
ICX switches managed by Ruckus OneSymptoms
- Users unable to add more than 4 ICX 7150 switches to a stack in Ruckus One.
- Stack configuration view in R1 does not reflect additional members beyond the fourth.
Root Cause
Although firmware version 10.0.10g—the first in the 10.x series for ICX 7150—introduced support for up to 8-member stacks, the R1 platform initially retained a hardcoded limitation of 4 members. This mismatch between firmware capability and R1 configuration led to stack expansion failures beyond 4 switches.Resolution
R1 has now been enhanced to support up to 8-member stacks for ICX 7150 switches. To take advantage of this:
- Ensure the venues for ICX 7150 switches are running firmware version 10.0.10g or later.
- Reattempt stack expansion after verifying ICX firmware
