Customer Environment

Zone Director, Access Points

Root Cause

There can two causes for this log message: 1. AP model is not supported on the current firmware on the ZD. 2. Bad/Corrupt Firmware image uploaded on the ZD.

Troubleshooting Steps

Check if the Access Point could be managed by the Zone Director, you could know it by below steps

Go to Administrator>>Upgrade - Under Current Software you will notice an option "click here"

By doing so you could get to know what AP can be managed by ZD

Access Points that can be managed

Workaround

Check from which version the Access Point supported. For example below is the Model of Access Point and Version they are supported from

ZF2942  - From 4.0 and above
ZF7962 - From 9.1 and above
ZF7363 - From 9.4 and above
ZF7055 - From 9.6 and above
ZF7351;R300 - From 9.7 and above
R700 - From 9.8 and above

Resolution

  1. If you see the message as "Model[zfxxxx] is not supported; connection request from AP refused" check the Version from which the Access Point is supported and upgrade the Zone Director to that version.
  2. If the AP is supported on the current firmware on the ZD and if the log is still seen in the ZD then the firmware image on the ZD might be corrupt and upgrading the ZD again to the same version using a different image file should resolve this.
