How do I make sure that my Band 48 supported phone can connect to my Ruckus AP/CBSD?Customer Environment
Band 48 supported phone. CBSD/AP running Ruckus 3.0.0 SW.Root Cause
Not all B48 supported phones can connect to CBSD/APs.Resolution
Here are a few steps taken to check whether a new Galaxy S10+, or any new smartphone, can connect to my Ruckus Q710 AP running 3.0.0 SW.1. First thing will be to check the CBRS Alliance on whether the phone supports Band 48. This is a link to the website = https://www.cbrsalliance.org/certification.
Important: Not all models work, check the model number to see if it supports CBRS band. For example, Galaxy S10 phone listed in the cbrs alliance model number is SMG975U and my test phone is P/N SM-G975U1.
2. Make sure that the phone is an unlocked version phone. CBRS supported phones purchased from phone vendors (TMobile/ATT/Verizon/etc) have the bands locked and they would have to unlock the phone to get band 48 operational.
3. Check with Ruckus Support if smartphone is supported by Ruckus AP/CBSD. The phone may have been on list of CBRS clients under the CBRS Alliance but each phone would need to be checked with Engineering,. Marketing would give the last word on whether the phone model is supported.
4. Upgrade to the latest SW version. An unlocked Galaxy S10+ out of the box will not work unless upgraded to at least the Feb. 1 2020 version.
Please follow these general guidelines before purchasing your CBRS supported phone.
