Ruckus supports original single-band 802.11g, dual-band 802.11n, and dual-band 802.11ac APs with which to form a Smart Mesh network.
It is not possible to mesh single-band AP’s with different 2.4G radio types - an 802.11b/g only radio cannot mesh with 802.11b/g/n APs.
Meshing on a dual band AP happens on the 5 GHz radio - and 802.11an APs can mesh with 802.11ac APs. (*except R300)
Mesh restrictions are only for AP - AP, not client - AP connections. 802.11g clients can connect to 802.11an/ac APs.
Check AP model mesh compatibility with below details:
Ruckus ZF 2925, 2942, and 2741 will mesh with each other on 2.4 ghz on 802.11g
Ruckus ZF 7343, 7942 & 7352 will mesh with each other on 2.4 ghz on 802.11n
Ruckus ZF 7962, 7762, 7363, 7372, 7982 & 7782 will mesh with each other on 5 ghz only, on 802.11an
Ruckus ZF 7962, 7762, 7363, 7372, 7982 & 7782 will mesh with R500, R600, R700, T300-series, H500 on 5 ghz only, on 802.11an
Ruckus 802.11ac APs R500, R600, R700, T300-series, H500 will mesh with each other on 5 ghz only, on 802.11an (*ac planned)
