Mesh Compatibilty between different model APs

Summary

This article explains what are the prerequisites to establish Mesh between different model APs

Question

Which model of APs can use Smart Mesh together?

Customer Environment

ZoneDirector with different model Access Points

Resolution

Ruckus supports original single-band 802.11g, dual-band 802.11n, and dual-band 802.11ac APs with which to form a Smart Mesh network.

It is not possible to mesh single-band AP’s with different 2.4G radio types - an 802.11b/g only radio cannot mesh with 802.11b/g/n APs.

Meshing on a dual band AP happens on the 5 GHz radio - and 802.11an APs can mesh with 802.11ac APs.  (*except R300)

Mesh restrictions are only for AP - AP, not client - AP connections.  802.11g clients can connect to 802.11an/ac APs.

Check AP model mesh compatibility with below details:

Ruckus ZF 2925, 2942, and 2741 will mesh with each other on 2.4 ghz on 802.11g
