Question

Why am I getting a Certificate error while accessing a captive portal enabled wlan after installing Wild Card certificate (Digisign)?

Customer Environment

ZD managed

Root Cause

Digisign certificate isn't trusted

Resolution

There are two types of certificates as follows.

Trusted , Untrusted

Whenever the browser request a page, ZD will pass the information to the browser. Certificate will be validated by the browser only.

If the certificate is trusted by the browser then it will not give any error.

When the certificate is untrusted by the browser, It will throw the error. In this case we have to use the "Proceed anyway" option to proceed further. Nothing to be done with the ZD. Certificate thing works based on the browser.

Digisign certificate is untrusted one. Please find the below URL from Microsoft which gives more details.
