Disable syslog server settings on the ZD managed APs

Summary

Starting from v9.8 ZD can disallow syslog server setting push to APs. Previously if a syslog server is configured on a ZD, it will get pushed to all managed APs. There was no way to control it. This is changing from 9.8.

Question

How do I disable syslog server settings push to ZD managed APs?

Customer Environment

A syslog server is used to gather events and log messages from ZoneDirector and its managed APs.

Root Cause

Admin may be interested only in the ZD side logs - not from managed APs.

Resolution

1. Log into the ZD and then go to the Configure --> System page.
2. Scroll down to the Log Settings page.
3. Disable the "Inherit remote syslog for APs" checkbox.

Above procedure will ensure syslog will only receive logs from ZD only - not from ZD managed APs.
