How to configure CLI Profile on R1 when multiple ICX switches are provisioned with static IP addresses?

Customer Environment

  • Choose the correct ICX Switch Models under Models section.
  • Copy the running configuration from the Switch console and paste it under CLI Configuration Section. Backup configuration can also be imported using the Import from file option.
  • When static IP address is assigned on ICX Switch-  Override existing Switch Configuration should be enabled.
  • For provisioning multiple Switches(with static IP addresses)- Variable should be defined to assign IP addresses to Switches. The start IP address can be any valid host IP in the defined subnet. However, the end IP address should be the last host IP address of the subnet. The first Switch that connects to R1 gets the start IP address, second Switch that connects to R1 gets the next IP address from the address pool and so on.
Example of IP address pool defined in variable named IP:

The format of the command should be as mentioned below where ${ip} is the variable:
ip address ${ip}

  • At last, select the Venue where the configuration Profile will be be applied for all Switches.
  • When a Switch is added to the Venue, it moves to operational state after applying the CLI configuration Profile.

  • CLI Provisioning Status can be checked from the Switch>Configuration>History Page.

Note: The CLI configuration profile is pushed only to those Switches that are connected first time to R1. Further modification to CLI Profile is pushed only to new Switches. Modified CLI Profile is not pushed to a Switch that is already online on R1.
