How to setup RUCKUS Lennar Home devices and Configure them in Lennar Home?
Customer Environment
Product(s): RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch and RUCKUS R510/R310 Unleashed Access Points.Workaround
Setup Explanation:
1. RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch:
Function: The RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch is a networking device that delivers Power over Ethernet (PoE) to wireless access points and other PoE-enabled devices via Ethernet cables. It features 12 ports centrally located on the switch, which can be used to connect various devices such as PCs, TVs, IP Cameras, IP Phones and gaming consoles, etc., through Ethernet cables.

2. RUCKUS R510/R310 Access Points (APs):
Function: A wireless access point (WAP) is a device that allows wireless devices to connect to a wired network, such as the Internet or a local area network (LAN). It acts as a central hub for wireless communication, allowing devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops to access the network without the need for wired connections.
WAPs are often used in offices or large buildings where a single Wi-Fi router would be insufficient.

3. Modem and Router or Modem-Router Combo Device:
A modem and a router, or a modem-router combo device, must be connected to ONE of the 12 ports on the RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch. Note that this can be either two separate devices (a modem and a router) or a single modem-router combo device, as provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
In the examples below, the coaxial cable is connected to the modem. An Ethernet cable then connects the modem to the router, which is subsequently connected to one of the 12 ports on the RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch (see Figure 3).

4. The network topology is as follows:
Modem ? Router ? One of the 12 Ports on the RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch ? Access Points (APs) or Other Devices
- Alternatively:
- Modem-Router Combo device ? One of the 12 Ports on the RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch ? Access Points (APs) or Other Devices
Any wired device, such as security IP cameras, doorbells, IP Phones or computers, can be connected to any of the 12 ports on the RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch using an Ethernet cable.

6. Connecting to the Access Points Wi-Fi:
Once we verify that the RUCKUS devices are connected according to the description provided, we can attempt to connect to the Wi-Fi network through the RUCKUS Access Points. Please use the password either if you know it or as provided in the Networking Device holding cabinet. (Refer to the figure 7 below for further details.)

7. Factory reset of the RUCKUS Access Points:
If the login password does not work, we will need to perform a factory reset on your RUCKUS Access Points and configure them with a new Wi-Fi network/SSID. For detailed instructions on the factory reset process for the RUCKUS R510/R310 Access Points, please refer to the Factory reset process of the RUCKUS R510 Access Points for Lennar Home users Knowledge Base self-help article.
Resolution
To ensure optimal performance and uninterrupted connectivity in your Lennar Smart Home setup, here are a few key takeaways:
- Use Correct Ports: Always connect your modem/router (or combo) to one of the 12 ports on the RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch. Not the console or uplink ports.
- PoE Devices Only: Connect your RUCKUS Access Points directly to the switch using Ethernet cables. The switch will automatically supply power (PoE) and data.
- Label Your Cables: Labeling Ethernet cables connected to each port helps avoid confusion during future troubleshooting or upgrades.
- Check Wi-Fi Labels: Look for the Wi-Fi SSID and password label inside the network cabinet before resetting the Access Points.
- Avoid Unnecessary Resets: Only perform a factory reset if the Wi-Fi login fails and you’ve confirmed that the password label is missing or incorrect.
- Power Cycle When in Doubt: If devices appear offline, perform a power cycle by unplugging the switch for 10 seconds and plugging it back in.
- Ask for Help: Don't hesitate to share a photo of your setup on the RUCKUS Lennar Community Forum, visuals help diagnose issues faster.
