AP license sharing for two controller nodes in cluster

Summary

This article describes license requirements for vSCG/SCG-200/SZ-100/SZ-300 nodes operating in a cluster configuration

Question

Does the customer need to buy another set of license for redundant controller ?

Customer Environment

Customer has deployed controller(any of vSCG/SCG-200/SZ-100) nodes in a cluster configuration

Root Cause

N/A

Resolution

In vSCG/SCG-200/SZ-100 cluster environment, AP licenses are pooled between all nodes in a cluster.

If a node fails, the AP licenses remain active for other nodes for 45 days permitting time to RMA the
failed node.

The AP licenses are applied on a cluster level which is a logical representation of the two nodes
(identified by their S/N).

LiMAN license tool is used to initiate RMA to transfer the licenses from the defective node SN to the
new node SN.
