What is the procedure to migrate vSZ from a KVM host to a VMware host?Customer Environment
vSZ managed wireless network.Resolution
You can typically use a converter tool available from the VMWare website for this type of migration. If you rather prefer not to deal with a tool, please follow the procedure below:
1. Take a Cluster backup of the vSZ hosted on a KVM machine first and download it locally and then copy to an FTP server.
2. Create a new instance on VMware for the vSCG install for the same firmware version. Ensure the resource requirement is met (refer to Getting started Guide or the Upgrade Guide).
3. Finish the initial install with a temporary IP.
4. Shutdown the KVM instance as now we would proceed to restore Cluster backup which would also import the IP settings causing an IP Conflict.
4. Using FTP server, follow the KBA 000010540 to upload and restore the Cluster backup to the new vSZ.
5. RMA existing licenses on KVM so they can be transferred to the VMware based vSZ. This can be done using the "LiMAN" tool on the https://support.ruckuswireless.com/ website or contact Ruckus Support to help with the license transfer by providing the old and the new vSZ Serial number.
6. APs should automatically switchover to the new instance after this as the new vSZ on VMWare now has the same IP address.
IMPORTANT NOTE - This needs to be performed in a maintenance window only due to the downtime involved.
