SZ 5.2 AP upgrade fatal error (TSB-2020-002)

Summary

A problem has been discovered for certain models of AP that are upgraded to SZ 5.2.0.0.685, causing them to become unresponsive after reboot.

Question

What can cause certain models of AP to become unresponsive after upgrade to SZ 5.2.0.0.685 and subsequent reboot?

Customer Environment

Upgraded to SmartZone 5.2.0.0.685.

Root Cause

Ruckus R320 u-boot environment variables were changed in ODM manufacturing process and resulted in incorrect CRC (Checksum). As a result, the R320 will not boot up given the incorrect u-boot environment variables after upgrading to SZ5.2.

Symptoms

APs are unresponsive after controller upgrade to SZ 5.2.0.0.685, AP zone migration, and subsequent reboot.

After controller upgrade to 5.2, apply AP patch scg-ap-5.2.0.0.5030.patch from KBA-10275 found Here, before moving 802.11ac Wave1 model APs to 5.2 zone.
