IoT Licensing Concept :

From the 2.0.0.0 release onwards, RUCKUS provides support for the Device-based licensing model instead of AP-based licensing.

Types of Licenses :
• Core - The Core license is a perpetual license bound to the serial number of the controller. The duration of this license is perpetual.
• Instance - The Instance license is based on a subscription and maintains a tenure of 1, 3, or 5 years. Instance licenses are offered in three types: Insight, Premium, and Base.
• Device Capacity - To access the connected devices, after installing a Core license, you can purchase a Device Capacity license. The Device Capacity license is based on a subscription and maintains a tenure of 1, 3, or 5 years. Each device capacity license consists of either 50 or 250 devices, so if you purchase three 250 device capacity licenses, then you will be able to add 3*250=750 devices to the RUCKUS IoT Controller.


With the release of RUCKUS IoT Controller 2.2.0.0, there is a significant change in the licensing model. The updated model now follows a per-AP container-based licensing system.

Types of Licenses :
• Core - The Core license is a perpetual license bound to the serial number of the controller. The duration of this license is perpetual.
• RCAP - RCAP license is required for each Access Point or IoT Gateway connected to the RUCKUS IoT Controller. The RCAP license is offered on a subscription basis for a tenure of 1, 3, or 5 years, which includes Watch Dog support.
• Solution (Optional for Insights) - This as an option feature for users wishing to visualize and interact with IoT Sensors directly rather than through external Services/Clouds or platforms.

 

Subscription Activation Process :

Make sure you have Virtual controller serial number handy.

Open the Support Purchase Acknowledgement (SPA) email you have received from Ruckus Partner/VAR/Distributor



Login to Ruckus Support Portal https://support.ruckuswireless.com
Click the Activation Code in the SPA Email
Review the account details and proceed to Accept Terms and Conditions and click on "Activate Purchase



Takes you to the Activation Detail page (you can see the Quantity Activated and To Be Activated).
Click on the Hyperlink under the Product Code 



Subscription will be activated and available in the LiMAN Portal (License Pool)




Note : If there are multiple line items within one Activation Code. Each line item must be activated.


Add Subscription to Serial Number:
Go to LiMAN 
Click on the IoT SN, to which you would like to add the Subscription
Click on Add (+) License



It takes you to the page, where you need to add the Subscription to the IoT SN.



Select the Subscription code from which the Subscription needs to be added
Enter the number of Licenses you want to add to the controller in Qty to Add field 
Click on Add Licenses    


Subscription is added.


Download License File :
Go to LiMAN
Click on the SN for which the file needs to be downloaded



Click on the "Download License File" 


License File with Serial Number followed by (.bin) extension will be downloaded.
